TIL my chicken coop roof slant was totally wrong

After 2 years of replacing soggy bedding every week, I finally realized my roof slants toward the rain. A buddy from a poultry meetup in Springfield pointed it out and now I gotta redo the whole thing. Anyone else have a coop design fail they fixed way too late?

Used to think any slant was good enough until my first big storm washed half the bedding right out of the run. That Springfield meetup guy sounds like a lifesaver, what kind of fix are you planning?

Three storm seasons in and I've learned that lesson the hard way too, Emma. My first big one was a derecho back in 2018 that literally folded my run like a paperclip, and I found rooster feathers scattered across three counties. That Springfield guy sounds legit though, I heard he does custom trap-door roofs that you can open for sun but seal tight when the weather turns. I'm thinking about going with a full metal-slat overhang on the south side, something with a 20-degree pitch so water runs off fast instead of pooling up like it does now. Man, nothing beats that sinking feeling when you walk out after a storm and see your clean shavings floating in a muddy puddle (especially after you just spent three hours deep cleaning).
