That one Wednesday my whole flock decided to go rogue

So last week I let the girls out for their usual morning scratch around 7am and everything seemed fine. Then around 10 I go to check on them and half of them had squeezed through a gap in the fence I didn't even know existed into my neighbor's garden. It took me a solid 2 hours to round them all up and patch that hole with some scrap wood and zip ties. Has anyone else had a day where your chickens just turn into escape artists out of nowhere?

Oh man, I've been there. That hiding spot you never knew existed is always the one they find at 10am when you have things to do. My girls once discovered a loose board in the side of the run I'd walked past a hundred times without noticing. I ended up doing the same thing with zip ties and scrap wood, but what really helped was going around the whole coop and run on my hands and knees looking for any gaps bigger than my fist. They'll find them. Also, pro tip - get a roll of that plastic poultry netting from the hardware store and just staple it over the base of your fence for a few inches. Keeps the little Houdinis from squeezing through and saves you from another round of chasing them through the neighbor's petunias.

Oh man, the great chicken escape is a classic. @the_sam nailed it with the poultry netting trick, I did the same after my girls found a loose board near the compost pile. They got into my neighbor's veggie patch and turned his prized tomatoes into a dust bath crater. I was so mad I just grabbed some fencing staples and went full military patrol around the perimeter. Did you end up finding any other sneaky gaps after your zip tie fix?
