Saw a coop in Petaluma with a rain gutter running into the run, now my hens drink for free
Stopped by a farm stand up in Petaluma three weeks ago and the owner had rigged a cheap gutter off his coop roof that dumped straight into a PVC pipe drilled with holes over the run. I copied it with about $18 of parts from the hardware store and my birds now have fresh water all day without me hauling the hose out there twice. Has anyone else set up rainwater collection like this, and did you bother filtering it before the hens drink?
