Read that the dark part of an egg is just the bloom, not a bad sign
I heard a guy on a gardening podcast say that the dark spot on brown eggs is just the bloom protecting it, and scrubbing it off makes the egg go bad faster. Has anyone else left the bloom on and noticed a difference in how long their eggs last?

Shoot, yeah I've definitely noticed a difference with my eggs. I quit washing my farm fresh eggs for a few years now, and I swear they keep for like a month on the counter easy. The bloom is like a thin waxy seal, scrubbing it off just lets bacteria in faster. I used to wash every single one and they'd go bad in a couple weeks in the fridge. Stopped washing them and they last way longer, even sitting out on the counter.
