Rant: I called pine shavings a waste of money for 18 months, then my hens quit laying on bare wood
I used to shovel out the coop every Saturday and thought that was just how it had to be done. Then a neighbor in Akron named Doreen told me to toss in 4 inches of pine shavings and I rolled my eyes at her. Three weeks later the smell was gone, the eggs were clean, and I was spending maybe $12 a month instead of scrubbing boards. Anyone else switched bedding after swearing it would not matter?
Doreen from Akron probably felt like a genius when you finally caved lol. Funny how the people we roll our eyes at end up saving us $12 a month and a whole lot of scrubbing.
