PSA: My dad taking over the morning feed ruins the whole flock's routine
He stays over sometimes and insists on doing the chores his way, scattering feed whenever he feels like it. The hens get stressed and lay less when their schedule is messed up, but he says I'm too strict. Do your relatives ever disrupt your chicken care without seeing the harm?

Maybe the whole "too strict" thing has a point. I mean chickens on farms deal with changing conditions all the time and they figure it out. A little variation in feeding might even be good, stops them from getting too set in their ways. Your dad's way could be helping them handle stress better in the long run. Maybe a perfect routine isn't as important as we think.

But have you seen your own chickens actually handle changes well, or is that just how it's supposed to work in theory?

My neighbor's flock freaked out for a week when they switched from red to blue feed bowls. They got over it once they realized the food was the same. Sometimes the drama is just about the container, not the change itself.
