Our rooster started crowing at 4 AM after 2 quiet months

Last Tuesday my wife and I woke up to this loud, rusty crow right outside our bedroom window in Portland, and our 8 month old Wyandotte rooster just would not let up. Turns out the neighbor's motion sensor light was triggering him every time a raccoon walked by, so he thought he had to announce it to the whole block. Has anyone else had a rooster react to random lights or sounds at night, and did you find a way to calm them down without locking them in a dark coop?

Give that coop a dark curtain, motion lights are just raccoon bait for a bored rooster.
