I spent 3 years giving my hens cracked corn every morning until a neighbor showed me their pale combs and droopy wattles

Was I actually starving them of protein all that time or do some folks think a little scratch grain is fine as long as they're free-ranging, what's your take on corn as a treat versus a staple?

Corn is a treat, not a meal. They need layer feed for the protein.
