Hit 50 eggs from my first hen today and it felt weirdly huge

I started with 3 pullets back in March and my Barred Rock just laid her 50th egg this morning. I actually counted them in a notebook and seeing that number made me realize how much time has passed caring for these birds.

Funny how a notebook full of egg counts makes you feel like some kind of poultry accountant. I've got a little whiteboard on my coop wall and I still manage to lose track. Have you named your Barred Rock yet or is she just "the egg machine" like mine?

lisa820 I totally get the "egg machine" thing, it's basically her job title at this point. It's funny how we do that with so many things, like naming the coffee maker "the bean dispenser" or the car "the grocery getter". Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we name the special stuff and just call the reliable stuff by its purpose.
