Diatomaceous earth did nothing for my mite problem, here's what actually worked
I dusted the coop and every bird with food-grade DE for 6 weeks straight last summer and those mites just laughed at it, even after I re-applied after every rain. Turns out the real fix was treating the roost bars with a thin coat of vaseline and swapping to plastic perches, the mites couldn't breed in the crevices anymore. Has anyone else had zero luck with DE or did I just get a bad batch from the feed store in Modesto?
