Deep litter method vs weekly cleanouts. I switched and never looked back.
I used to strip my coop every Sunday for two years. Spent hours scooping poop. Then my neighbor Dave told me to try the deep litter method. After 6 months of just adding bedding and turning it, my coop smells better. No ammonia smell. The composting action keeps the coop warmer in winter too. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed less respiratory issues in their flock?

YES! Deep litter is a total game changer. My flock is way healthier now.

Oh man, totally agree with you on that. I switched my coop over to deep litter about two years back and it was honestly one of the best decisions I ever made for my birds. The way it just breaks down and creates that natural compost, no smell at all if you do it right. I just add a fresh layer of pine shavings every few days and turn it over with a rake when I clean out the waterer. The chickens absolutely love scratching through it too, keeps them busy and gives them something to do all day. My flock has barely had any respiratory issues since I made the switch, it's night and day compared to how they were before.
