Can we talk about the difference in my hens after I stopped free-ranging them all day and switched to a two-hour supervised run?
My flock's eggshell quality went from brittle and thin to rock solid in about six weeks, but now they're way more restless in their run and I can't decide if the trade-off is worth it.

That part about the eggshells going from brittle to rock solid is HUGE. It shows the supervised run is giving them exactly what they need nutrition wise. The restlessness is tough, but maybe you can make their two hours count even more with new things to peck at. I had to add a hanging cabbage and a dust bath spot to keep mine busy.
