Vent: My old route in the White Mountains used to take me 6 hours, but after switching to a lighter pack last fall, I can do it in under 4.

Has anyone else had a specific trail time drop that much just from cutting pack weight?

Yeah I used to think pack weight was overrated, but shaving a few pounds off my setup last season totally changed my pace. It's crazy how much easier it feels.

So you're just now figuring out gravity?

Oh man, that's a huge difference. I mean, it makes total sense though. I switched to a lighter sleeping bag and a smaller tent and it felt like I got my legs back. It's not just about being faster, it's about how much less you have to stop and catch your breath on the steep parts. That weight adds up with every single step.
