Update: I skipped the Franconia Ridge loop for the Gale River Trail and the views from North Twin changed my mind about crowds

I figured the extra 2 hours and 1,900 feet of climb would be worse than dodging 40 people on Franconia's ridgeline, but I saw exactly 3 hikers all day. Anyone else bail on the famous loop in the Whites and end up liking the quiet one better?
