My new water filter broke on day 3 of the Appalachian Trail

I was hiking near Hot Springs, NC last month and my Katadyn BeFree filter just stopped working. It was letting water through but it tasted like dirt and I got sick the next day. I had to hitch into town and grab a cheap Sawyer squeeze from a outfitter there for like $40. Has anyone else had a BeFree fail on them that quick?

that's rough buddy but honestly sounds about right for my luck too. i bought a sawyer squeeze after watching my buddy's befree clog up on day two of a colorado trip and he spent the rest of the hike borrowing mine. guess we're both paying the trail tax early
