Heads up about the 'shortcut' on the PCT section near Snoqualmie Pass

Honestly, I saw a bunch of notes in the trail register about a side trail that cuts off 2 miles. I was super skeptical because it wasn't on my map. Tried it last week and it was a total mess, basically a washed-out game trail that dead-ended at a cliff. Had to backtrack and lost over an hour. The main PCT route is clearly marked for a reason. Has anyone else been tricked by that 'shortcut' recently?

Tbh Richard is right, those registers are full of that stuff. It goes beyond just bad intel though, it feels like some people just want to feel smart by leaving a "secret" tip. They don't consider that conditions change fast, or that their one lucky find could send someone else into a real bad spot. Honestly, I've started ignoring anything written there that isn't about basic trail conditions. The maps and official markers exist because people planned that route for a reason.

Yeah, that one's a classic. Trail registers are full of bad intel from people who got lucky once. Stick to the map.
