Did the JMT southbound after doing it northbound the year before

Hiked the John Muir Trail northbound in 2022 and it was great but going southbound last summer felt way better. The elevation gain near Muir Pass wrecked me going north but coming from the south side it was more gradual. Southbound also meant I hit Evolution Valley when my legs were fresh instead of dead tired. Anyone else notice a big difference going one direction versus the other on a long trail?

Hold on a sec, Evolution Valley is north of Muir Pass, not south. You might be thinking of a different section.

Wait, is this like the time I confidently told someone Yosemite was south of Death Valley? I mean, we've all been there, right?
