Vent: paid a $175 deposit to a broker who ghosted me for 11 days, then came back with a $600 higher quote

Booked a move from Phoenix to Omaha in March, and after I paid the deposit the guy stopped answering texts, then resurfaced saying the original price was off and it would be $600 more or I could lose the deposit, so has anyone actually gotten money back from one of these guys or did I just eat the $175?
