Picked a broker over going direct with the carrier for my move from Phoenix, and the $400 gap still bugs me
Broker quoted me $1,150 and the carrier direct came in at $750 for the same route, but the broker had better reviews so I went with them anyway. Truck showed up 2 days late and the driver admitted he was subcontracted out. Did I just pay $400 for a nicer website or does the broker thing actually protect you somehow?
You paid for the nicer website pretty much. Reviews can be faked or just show they answer the phone fast, does not mean the actual driver cares. $400 is a lot for peace of mind you didn't even get since he just subbed it out anyway.
