A broker in Ohio talked me out of the cheapest quote, glad I listened
I was about to lock in a $650 transport deal from Columbus to Denver, cheapest I found online. Then a broker named Dave called back and said, "You're not moving a couch, you're moving a 4,000 pound truck, what's your backup plan if it shows up late?" He walked me through the review patterns, how those lowball companies get volume then ghost you for days. That conversation made me check the complaint histories, and sure enough, that $650 outfit had like 30 unresolved claims. Paid $800 with a mid-tier carrier instead, vehicle arrived two days early and clean. Has anyone else had a broker talk them out of a bargain that would've cost them way more in stress?
That thing about the review patterns is real, like those 30 unresolved claims don't show up until you actually dig for them. What got me was the backup plan question, because once you think about your truck sitting at a dock somewhere with no one answering the phone, that extra $150 stops looking like a rip off. Cheap up front just means you're paying with your sanity later, idk, maybe it's just me but that trade is never worth it.
