Spent $400 on a high-end scan tool, saved me 3 hours of diag on a crank no-start

Ngl I was about to throw parts at a 2015 Escape that had no spark or fuel, but the scanner caught a crank sensor correlation issue in 2 minutes. Anyone else had a cheap tool let you down vs a pricier one pulling through?

$400 for a scanner seems like a lot for a car that's not even worth that much.

Honestly that comment kinda misses the point. It's not about the car's value, it's about the time you waste throwing parts at something.
