Shoutout to the old guy at a Lima, Ohio shop who made me rethink my whole diagnostic order
Was having lunch at a diner near Lima, Ohio last Thursday and got to talking with a retired mechanic who ran his own shop for 40 years, and he mentioned that he always checked grounds and battery cables before he ever hooked up a scan tool. That hit different because I have been chasing a P0300 misfire on a 2012 Silverado for 3 days with the scanner, and the ground strap on the back of the block was green with corrosion the entire time. Do you guys hit the simple stuff first or go straight for codes?
