Replaced a valve cover gasket on my 2012 Civic yesterday and somehow ended up with a coolant leak I didn't have before.

I torqued everything to spec in the manual but the lower intake manifold bolt snapped clean off at 12 ft-lbs, has anyone else had this happen on a D-series motor?

Snapped bolt means the torque spec in the manual might be wrong for that motor.

Snapped that bolt at 12 ft-lbs myself on my old Civic and I still have no idea how I managed it. Thought I was being careful but the moment I heard that crack, I just stood there staring at the broken end like it had personally offended me. Ended up drilling it out and using a helicoil kit while muttering a lot of colorful words under my breath. Made a total mess of my garage floor with coolant and swear words that day. Did you have any luck getting the broken piece out?

Angie, have you actually looked up the factory torque spec for those lower intake bolts on a D17? I've seen three different numbers floating around online depending which year manual you grab.
