Pro tip: the old guy at the shop in Tucson told me to stop using impact wrenches on lug nuts, and he was dead right
I used to hit every lug nut with my 1/2 inch impact on full blast, figured faster was better. Then Ray, a guy who has been turning wrenches for 30 years, told me to run them on by hand first and only use the impact to snug them. I ignored him for 6 months, then warped a rotor on a customer's F-150 and had to eat the $180 part. Now I do it his way and I have not had a comeback since. Anyone else got a simple habit like that which saved your butt?
