Just realized I was overcomplicating brake jobs after a shop in Dallas showed me their trick

They had me watch them do a full brake service on a Ford F-150 in under an hour using just a basic pry bar and a C-clamp. I was using three different specialty tools and taking twice as long. Who else has a simple trick that saved them a ton of time?

Remember when we all used to bleed brakes with a soda bottle?

Wait, wait wait. A C-clamp on rear calipers? That's an immediate no from me. I mean I get using a pry bar for the front pads but rear calipers that rotate in are a completely different animal, especially on a newer Ford. You can totally wreck the e-brake mechanism doing that stuff, its not worth saving 15 minutes to mess up the whole assembly. I'd be surprised if that shop's work holds up long term.

That Dallas shop is cutting corners. A proper brake job needs a piston tool for the rear calipers, not just a c-clamp. You can mess up the parking brake system doing it their way.
