I finally wasted $150 on a mechanic's tool set from a discount store

Bought a 'complete' socket set from a bargain bin back in October. First time I went to loosen a rusty bolt on my truck, the 1/2 inch socket just split in half. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap sets, or am I just stuck buying the good stuff from now on?

Harbor Freight Pittsburgh stuff has held up fine for my light use so far.

I'm with you on that @dakota_fox, but I think the real test is how those Pittsburgh sockets hold up when you torque them hard with a breaker bar. Light use is one thing, but I've seen them round off bolts where the fancy brands bite in.
