Had to choose between a full engine rebuild or a used motor swap on a 2008 F-150 last month
The customer's 5.4L had a bad knock, and the quote for a rebuild was $4,200. I found a low-mileage used engine from a yard in Phoenix for $1,800 plus my labor. We went with the swap to save them money, and it's been running solid for three weeks now. Anyone have a good source for tested used motors they trust?

Check out LKQ Online, they've got a decent warranty on their pull-outs. Honestly had good luck with them for a few Honda motors.

Nice, that swap was the smart move lol. I've used Car-Part.com to search a bunch of yards at once, found some good stuff that way.

Man, $4,200 for a rebuild on a 5.4L? That's wild - I'd have thought it'd be closer to six grand with all the labor and parts these days.
