Had a lightbulb moment comparing 3/8 vs 1/2 impact wrenches on rusty suspension work
I spent like 5 years using only my 3/8 impact for almost everything, thinking the 1/2 was just too bulky for tight spots. Then last month I had this '93 F-150 in my bay up in Portland where the lower control arm bolts were absolutely welded on with rust. After fighting for 20 minutes with the 3/8, I grabbed the shop's old 1/2 Ingersoll Rand and that thing snapped both bolts loose in under 30 seconds each. The difference was just raw torque, plain and simple. Now I keep the 3/8 for interior work and light engine stuff, but for anything suspension or exhaust related, I go straight for the 1/2. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you've been using the wrong tool for years without thinking about it?

You ever just sit there and wonder why you didn't try the bigger gun sooner? I did the same dance with a rusty Subaru rear strut bolt. 3/8 just buzzed and smoked. Swapped to a 1/2 and it broke loose like butter. Now I do the same as you. 3/8 stays in the drawer for dash screws and valve covers. 1/2 lives in my hand for anything with rust or torque specs over 80 ft-lbs.
