Am I the only one who sees people using impact guns on oil drain plugs all the time

Watched a guy at the shop in Denver yesterday crank one on with a high-torque impact and I just know that pan threads are toast by the next change, has anyone else had to helicoil a pan after someone else did this?

You know what nobody brings up? The dealer techs that use those things on transmission drain plugs too. Had a buddy who worked at a Toyota dealership in Denver and they had a whole drawer full of pans that were stripped from impact gun abuse. Makes me wonder how many cars are rolling around with just threadlocker holding the plug in place from some quick lube place.
