Tried blending base coat by eye on a 2016 Civic and the door came out two shades off
I've always been a bit lazy about tinting and matched color by eye for years, but a pearl white bumper job last month in my garage pushed me to get a real mixing bank. The bumper looked fine under the shop lights, but once the car rolled outside into the sun the pearl flop was way off, almost gray on one side. I ended up redoing the whole panel and wasted about $90 in materials. It taught me that natural light checks matter more than any chart under fluorescent bulbs. How do you folks handle pearl whites without baking the test panel first?
