Took me 5 years to trust a stud welder for aluminum
I always pulled plugs on steel dents and swore aluminum needed a full panel. Last month a hail job on a Sprinter van hood in Austin had me stuck, and the shop owner next door let me borrow his stud welder with the aluminum tips. I set it low, tried a test pull on a scrap piece, and it held way better than I figured. Now I'm kicking myself for all the money I spent on replacement panels, has anyone else made that switch recently?
