Sanded through the clear on a 2018 Accord quarter panel and had to tell the customer
Last Thursday I was blocking out a quarter panel on a 2018 Accord that came in for a rear end hit, and I got a little too happy with the DA on a low spot near the wheel arch. Went straight through the clear and into the base on a spot about the size of a credit card, and the color was that pearl white, so there was no hiding it with a spot blend. I stood there for a solid 5 minutes just staring at it, then walked up to the front desk and told the writer what happened before the customer showed up. He was cool about it, said we would just respray the whole panel, but I still had to call the owner and explain that his Friday pickup was moving to Tuesday. The panel got sealed, based, and cleared, and honestly it came out cleaner than the rest of the car, which made me feel worse somehow. What do you all do when you burn through on a pearl? Do you spray the whole panel every time or has anyone had luck with a spot repair on that three stage stuff?
