Sanded through a customer's door edge in Kansas City and had to fess up

I was blocking out a repaint on a silver Camry last Tuesday and got too aggressive with 80 grit right on the door edge, burning through the clear and into the base. Told the owner straight up and ate the cost of blending the door, about $220 in materials and a half day of my own time. Now I keep a pencil line of tape along every edge before I touch it, does anyone else have a spot they always seem to burn through?
