Pro tip: I bought a cheap dent puller kit online and it cost me a whole afternoon.
The slide hammer snapped on the first real pull, and I had to redo the whole panel. Spent $45 on junk and lost about 4 hours of shop time. What's a good, solid brand for a basic puller that won't break?

Honestly, is a dent puller even worth the hassle for most people? That sounds like a pro body shop tool.

My neighbor's dent puller is still in the box from two years ago.

My grandpa had one of those $45 specials back in the 90s, and I'm pretty sure it's still in the garage somewhere, holding up a shelf. Sounds like yours upgraded from tool to scrap metal in record time. For a decent slide hammer, you probably need to spend closer to a hundred bucks, which defeats the whole "buy a cheap kit" plan anyway. My neighbor bought one of those no-name kits two years ago, and it's been a great paperweight ever since, so you're not alone there.
