Picked pulling a dent cold over heating it on a 2019 Civic fender, and I'm still not sure I was right
Had a kid bring in a 2019 Civic last month with a crease right on the body line of the rear fender, maybe 8 inches long. I went back and forth on whether to pull it cold with the glue tabs or heat it up first, and I ended up going cold because I was scared of burning the clear. It came out about 90 percent and the paint survived, but I spent almost 2 hours fighting it and lost some time I could've billed elsewhere. My old shop foreman always said heat first on anything past 6 inches, and now I'm wondering if I just made it harder on myself. What do you all do on creases that sit right on a body line, heat or no heat?
Did you try heating it in small spots first or go straight to cold pull? Curious if the clear was already soft from sitting in the sun before you started.
