I used to think dustless sanding was overhyped junk

For years I ran my shop in Phoenix with just a shop vac and a respirator. I figured spending $2,000 on a dustless system was a waste when I could just sweep up later. Then I did a full respray on a 2018 F-150 and ended up with fisheyes from dust settling overnight. Took me three days of sanding and re-priming to fix it. Bought a Mirka setup the next week and now I don't even think about it. Anyone else fight the dust battle before switching over?

fisheyes from dust settling overnight" sounds like bad prep not the tools fault.

@the_kim said "bad prep not the tools fault" - tell that to my buddy Tom who spent a whole weekend sanding a classic Mustang in his garage with the same setup, sealed it up at midnight, and came back to a fine layer of Arizona dust settled on the paint. He blew it off, shot the clear, and got bugs all through it. Bought a Festool setup later that week and never bitched about the cost again.
