I finally stopped fighting a bumper cover on a 2014 Malibu

Last Tuesday in my shop outside Dayton, I spent 45 minutes trying to line up a new rear bumper cover on a customer's Malibu, and it just kept popping out on the passenger side no matter how I wiggled it. Turns out I had the guide pin on the bracket rotated 180 degrees, which I only noticed after I set the cover down and looked at the old one sitting on the bench. Has anyone else had a part that fit fine but fought you because of a dumb orientation mistake like that?
