Drove through Nashville and noticed every shop suddenly painting matte black

Honestly, I was in Nashville last Thursday grabbing parts and three different collision shops had matte black cars in their bays, is that actually a trend now or just a regional thing, and how are you guys handling the clear coat issues with those?

Buddy of mine from Murfreesboro dropped 4k on a matte wrap for his Silverado, and within three months it looked like a faded chalkboard with water spots baked in. He ended up just paying to have it peeled off and went back to gloss, said never again.
