Am I the only one who thought lunch breaks were a waste in the shop?

I used to work straight through lunch to get cars out faster. After mixing up two customer's repair orders, I forced myself to stop and eat. My afternoon work is much better and I make fewer errors now. A quick ten minute break does the trick.

Wait you put mismatched hubcaps on someone's car lmao. That visual alone proves your point about needing a break. A quick sandwich definitely sounds cheaper than fixing that mess.

Learned that lesson the hard way myself. Skipped lunch to finish an alignment once and put the wrong wheels back on two different Civics. One guy got aftermarket alloys, the other got his stock steelies with mismatched hubcaps. A ham sandwich and ten minutes of quiet made me spot the bolt pattern mismatch before they drove off. My brain just needs a reset button around noon.

That "reset button around noon" is so real. I've seen how a tiny break can stop a huge mix-up before it happens. Your ham sandwich saved way more than just time.
