Tried a 30-second untracked exposure of Andromeda after months of guided shots
So I spent like 4 months saving up for a star tracker and spent hours doing 5-minute guided subs. Last week my mount battery died 20 minutes into a session and I figured why not just try a single 30-second shot with my DSLR on a tripod. The result was honestly way better than I expected, plenty of detail in the core for a quick snapshot. It made me realize I was overcomplicating things sometimes, you know? Has anyone else found that going back to simple setups gives surprisingly good results?

@dylanh81 it's not always about faint details though. Sometimes a quick 30-second shot just has this raw charm that overprocessed guided images lose. Ngl, a simple setup can remind you why you got into astrophotography in the first place.

That 30-second unguided shot was solid, but your guided subs will always beat it for faint details.
