Spent $80 on a light pollution filter for my backyard astrophotography

Bought it to shoot nebula from my city balcony. Got worse results than without it, just dimmer and no better detail. Anyone else have bad luck with those clip-in filters for urban skies?

Did your buddy ever try one of those cheap clip-ins from Amazon? My friend Steve threw his in the trash after a week of fighting with it.

Ugh man don't even get me started. I used to be one of those guys who thought "a part is a part, it's all the same plastic." But then I borrowed a buddy's cheap Amazon shifter and it was like trying to shift through a bowl of mashed potatoes. After that mess, I went out and bought a proper name brand one and it's been night and day ever since. You really do get what you pay for with that stuff.
