Serious question, does a cracked lens hood actually wreck your shots or am I babying it?
Dropped my camera bag off the tailgate in the driveway on Saturday and the hood on my 55-250 took the hit, hairline crack right down one side. I figured it was cosmetic so I kept shooting the moon that night. Every single frame had a faint flare streak through the lower left, and after 40 shots I finally put the hood back on straight and the streaks moved. Guess the crack was bending light right into the sensor. Anyone else run a cracked hood and just live with it, or should I be taping it up until the new one shows?
