Rant: That $180 solar filter was a total bust, literally

Ordered a glass solar filter off an auction site for my 8" dob, paid $180 with shipping from a seller in Ohio. First clear day I put it on, and the image was so blurry I thought my mirror was dirty, but no, the filter itself had this wavy surface defect you could see when you tilted it. I got a refund after a month of back and forth, but I lost two full weekends of sunspot watching waiting for it. Has anyone else gotten a bad glass filter, and what brand do you trust now?
