I think people overhype the Milky Way shots from the Atacama
Was in San Pedro de Atacama last November and honestly my phone photos from a random field in Montana came out clearer. The guides kept saying the altitude makes it better but I just got blurry stars and wind noise. Did anyone else find it underwhelming or did I just pick a bad night?

Bet you just got unlucky with the atmospheric conditions that night.

Read an article just the other day that said atmospheric distortion is actually more common than people think during meteor showers. Apparently light pollution and humidity can really mess with your view, even on a clear night. Makes you wonder how many people miss stuff because they're looking in the wrong part of the sky or at the wrong time. I bet if you checked the weather data for your area that night, you'd probably see some high cloud cover or moisture you didn't notice.
