Hot take: a messy stack of 300 raw subs beats 3 hours of stacking in Siril

I shot the Orion Nebula from my driveway in Tempe and got 312 usable frames from a 4 hour session, but the 40 frame stack I did first actually looked cleaner to me. Everyone says more subs always wins but at some point the noise from my cheap mount just builds up, has anyone actually tested where that cutoff hits for a rig like mine?
