Vent: That $40 carbon monoxide detector almost killed me

I bought a cheap no-name carbon monoxide detector off Amazon for $40 because I didn't want to spend more on a real Kidde one. Last week it started chirping at 3am and I just took the batteries out thinking it was a false alarm. Woke up with a pounding headache and dizzy feeling around 6am and my girlfriend called the fire department. Turns out our furnace had a crack and the CO levels were at 120 ppm in the house. Has anyone else had a close call with a cheap safety device?

i mean honestly, it chirped and you took the batteries out. that's kinda on you, not the detector. my buddy's cheap detector went off cause he burned toast and he just opened a window. 120 ppm isn't even that high, my uncle's house hit 200 once and he just aired it out and went back to bed. unless your girlfriend is super sensitive or something.
