The big difference I've seen in neighborhood friendliness since 2019, curious if others notice it too

On my street in Portland, folks used to wave and chat from their porches all the time before the pandemic, but now most people just walk by with earbuds in or rush to their cars, so has anyone else seen a similar shift in their area over the last 5 years and do you think it's permanent or just a phase?

My buddy in Denver said his whole block used to have block parties every summer. Now people just park in their garages and disappear inside. He thinks it's permanent, says everyone got too comfortable being isolated.

@dakota787 does your buddy think people might come back around if someone just organized it? In my experience, neighborhoods change fast but sometimes a couple of folks setting up lawn chairs on a Friday night is all it takes to break that ice again. I've seen it happen in my own area where the block party just faded out, but this one guy started grilling on his driveway and now we got a decent group talking every other week. It's not what it was, but it's something.
