Stumbled on a stat that says 90% of people don't finish their fiction books

I found this on a reading habits blog yesterday and it made me wonder if that's why I have six half-read novels sitting on my nightstand right now, has anyone else noticed they drop books way more than they used to?

Funny you say that because I think the real issue isnt about finishing books but about how we start them. Most people pick up a novel based on hype or a pretty cover, not whether it actually matches what they feel like reading that week. Ive started dropping books way more since I started using library apps where I can sample a few chapters first, its like test driving before committing. The 90% stat might be inflated by folks who just grab whatever is trending instead of matching the book to their current mood.

Notice this same thing happening everywhere now, not just with books. People grab the trending workout, the viral recipe, the popular productivity app, all before checking if it fits their actual life. The 90% dropout rate probably just shows most of us are trying things that were never a good match to begin with.
