Spent 4 hours trying to pair a simple Bluetooth keyboard... turns out it was in the wrong port

I kept hitting connect and nothing happened for like two hours, then i realized the dongle was stuck in a USB 3.0 slot instead of the 2.0 one it needs for whatever reason. Has anyone else run into a random port issue that ate up your whole afternoon?

Try plugging it into the back of your computer instead of the front.

I gotta respectfully push back on the "try plugging it into the back" advice. In my experience, the port version matters way more than front vs back. I had a wireless mouse dongle that just would not work in any USB 3.0 port, front or back, but worked perfect in a 2.0 slot. The 3.0 ports can mess with older Bluetooth and 2.4GHz stuff because of interference or signal issues, not because of where the port is located. So swapping to the back might not fix it if it's still a 3.0 port back there.
