Spent 3 hours trying to fix a door that just needed a shim

My front door in Austin started scraping the frame last month, so I bought a new hinge pin set and adjusted the strike plate twice. After three hours and some swearing, my neighbor came over and said, why not just slide a shim under the bottom hinge. Took like 4 minutes and the door closes perfect now. Anyone else ever overcomplicate a simple fix because you assumed it had to be the expensive route?

That shim trick is SO simple it almost feels like cheating, right? Next time I'll just start with the dumbest possible fix and work my way up to the expensive stuff.
